Located in the New Hebrides, Turtle Bay airfield was built in twenty days by a contingent of Seabees, 295 infantrymen, 90 Marines, and 50 natives. This 6,000ft runway eventually became one of the largest advance bases in the South Pacific.
This design features the words "Turtle Bay" above an illustration depicting an early F4U-1 sunning itself on the coral.
